UTSS seeks to increase the density of caring, highly capable adults in public school classrooms to increase student achievement and support teacher effectiveness.

About the Role

UTSS Tutors are placed in elementary, middle, and high schools throughout the Seattle Public Schools to provide support to students and teachers. Tutors may serve as circulating classroom assistants, lead a small group, or provide individual academic support during regular school hours. Once placed in a partner school, tutors are directed by the principal and an appointed site coordinator for the duration of the contracted school year.

To be a successful tutor, you will:

  • Foster learning while working with staff and students

  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with UTSS staff, building co-workers, and students

  • Be adaptable; able to identify problems and immediate action needed and also be flexible within the dynamic school environment you are working

  • Be reliable and accountable for personal behavior

  • Act with empathy and compassion, embracing diversity and able to build relationships across lines of differences

Priority given to applications received by 5:00pm on June 14, 2020. Positions open until filled.

UTSS is an equal opportunity employer. All applicants will be considered for employment without attention to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, veteran or disability status.
